Generation Z Language

Every new generation comes with a new set of slang terminology; whether it be completely new words, or new meanings of existing words.

Generation Z (born between 1995 and 2010) are the fastest paced generation yet, meaning language is moving so rapidly due to the many mediums that influence how they express themselves.

Here are a few of the most popular words that the ‘cool’ kids are using, for now at least.

Tea

“spill the tea” “what’s the tea?”

In other words, what’s the gossip.

GOAT

Greatest of all time.

“Elton John is the GOAT”

Shook

Shocked or surprised.

“Did you see what he tweeted?” “Wow, I’m shook”

Mood

Used to express when something is relatable to you, similar to ‘same’

That’s such a mood”

Sick

When something is cool or really good.

My new branding is sick”

Airing

Essentially means blanking or ignoring someone or reading a message without responding.

“Why are you airing me?”
